I placed my 90 N/A and the SR-71 on autotrader.com yesterday. I’m selling the N/A for 8500.00obo. If I sell the NA for 8.5k It will give me a total of 9k to spend on the SR-71 without having to sell any additional goods or get another job, cut cost.etc.:=( If a buyer comes along and makes me an offer on the SR-71 before I take the engine and get it fixed I will entertain any considerable offers to eliminate this risk I now own. I purchased the TT considering I would have pull the engine and spending 5-6k for repair. If someone takes it off of my hands I will be happier finding/searching for a TT that runs without pulling the engine.
: If It doesn’t sell, I will spend the 9k in bringing the car back to life and put up with driving my DD and sportbike until its fixed.…. : Reasons for taking the engine out:
: 1. I don’t like the fact that it ticks/taps/knocks at time when I cold start it. : 2. turbo’s are likely shot. : 3. The previous owner claims it has a Nissan short block (I have documentation) and a lot of other questionables I’m not sure about. : 4. Some of the wiring and hoses need replaced, connected, re-routed, etc. : 5. There is a hard pipe that goes into the passenger side turbo that doesn’t have a hose connected to it? : 6. The driver side turbo has a threaded hole in the side which appears to be a water journal that isn’t/wasn’t connected? : Although the car doesn’t smoke and it runs fairly good, it doesn’t boost over 4lbs. : Questions: : 1. Is there a way to verify the shortblock, heads, etc is good or how should I go about getting a engine that will produce 350-450 RWHP? I am thinking of getting HKS Sport 600s or 650s. : 2. The description I received from the seller claims ‘HKS Sport 550s’? I have searched and can’t find anything on “HKS Sport 550s” . Anyone have them or do they not exist? : 3. If these ARE water lines going to the turbo and they are not hooked is safe to say the turbos are F’d ? : 4. Could the missing hose be something else other than a water line that wouldn’t be fatal to the turbos? : : As always, all advice is greatly appreciated.
